Why would I be giving advice on colors for your website? Well, considering I’m the content manager for an existing website, I’ve researched many different ideas for blogs relevant to web design. I currently have a blog post called “Trends in Web Design” (https://cuckhoo.co) that speaks to this subject. However, I will go into more detail regarding colors and why you should use specific ones!
When I am learning a new trade, for example, you could give me a book completely describing the job, yet it might as well be written in an ancient language. I am able to understand through visual examples or “shadowing” people physically completing necessary tasks for the job. I’d much prefer a video over written material. Why is that? If you’re like me, most people are visually stimulated and get so much more out of visual stimuli. It may seem that I’m digressing, but stay with me. I do have a point!!
When I visit a new website, I’m drawn to color; vibrant colors, not basic or drab. However, I’m not a fan of too much color that doesn’t come together cohesively. Depending on your website’s niche, you’ll want to pick your colors accordingly. I will repeat myself several times that people love color. You should choose colors that match your logo. But not only that, choose colors that will enhance those colors as well. Don’t be afraid to use shades of colors that enhance others.
Content font does not have to be basic either; think Arial. Use something more along the lines of Comic Sans or some other embellished font. Blogs, especially, should be varied in fonts and color. It draws in your visitors will more likely keep them there longer than a minute. That’s certainly what you want, right?
So, play around, get feedback and opinions, and most definitely, HAVE FUN!!!!
